Curriculum Vitae
I was born in 1961 and went to school in Cambridge. I studied
Medicine at the University of Bristol between 1979 and 1984, qualifying
with MB.ChB. My post-graduate training was undertaken in Bristol and
Cheltenham, gaining higher surgical qualifications in 1990 (Fellow of
the Royal College of Surgeons - F.R.C.S. and Fellow of the Royal College
of Ophthalmologists - F.R.C.Ophth).
I completed a research Ph.D. (1994) under the auspices of Professor
David Easty in the University of Bristol Department of Ophthalmology,
after studying the biochemistry of eye infection.
During 1995 I undertook a Clinical Fellowship in Perth, Western
Australia, working with Mr Phil House and Mr Bill Morgan (glaucoma) and
Mr Geoff Crawford (corneal surgery).
I was appointed Consultant at the Bristol Eye Hospital in 1996.
